In 2018, I was awarded a UG Fellowship opportunity at the Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey, USA (SIAI 2018). During my fellowship, I focused on early Alzheimer’s disease detection by analyzing MRI data in NIFTI format from the Alzheimer’s Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI). Our research focused on the central slice of the MRI, which contains the most information. We primarily worked on analyzing the grey matter in the brain, since damage to brain cells is equivalent to the loss of grey matter. As a person gets closer to developing Alzheimer’s disease, their brain cells diminish and the grey matter is affected. This was the key analysis of our research work, and with this information, the students at Stevens were able to achieve a higher accuracy rate of 5-10%.
After returning to India, multiple investors approached us to take the project forward. However, as the Principal Engineer responsible for the coding aspect of the project, I decided to halt the R&D work. Instead, I focused on obtaining a degree and imbibing the vital skillsets required to start the R&D work in full swing. To achieve this, I pursued a Machine Learning Certification from Coursera offered by Stanford. After completing the certification, I became more curious to land a job in the field of Data Science and Analytics.
On December 23, 2020, I began my career in the corporate world as a SWE (Data Engineer) at Whiz.AI. In this role, I was responsible for designing and implementing scalable data pipelines using Apache Airflow for processing and transforming large datasets. Throughout my work, I focused on optimizing these pipelines for performance and reliability by implementing best practices. It helped to enhance scalability, maintainability, and data integrity. My proficiency in Python for data manipulation, SQL for querying, and the utilization of Cloud Solutions for efficient data processing and storage greatly contributed to the seamless execution of these pipelines. Moreover, my experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to address complex challenges and translate high-level concepts into elegant data engineering solutions has further honed my ability to contribute effectively within a collaborative and innovative environment.
On October 17, 2023, I started working at Tellius as a Data Scientist. In this role, I conducted thorough data analysis using Python and SQL, extracting valuable insights and patterns from large and complex datasets. These insights were instrumental in guiding the development of products and making strategic decisions. However, I eventually realized that our scope in Machine Learning was limited, and I decided to resign. Despite this, I was able to gain valuable experience in other important professional areas during my time at Tellius.

On June 3rd, 2023, we celebrated the Foundation Day of Nexus Innovations Group, which focuses on Generative Artificial Intelligence and the Pharma Industry. Our goal is to continue the work from 2018 on Early Detection of Alzheimer’s Disease.

We aim to help the Health Care Sector by providing Early Disease Detection, which will enable patients to take necessary precautions and benefit Healthcare Professionals. We want to reduce their analysis time, provide early disease analysis, and work hand in hand with their expertise and AI to assist numerous patients in need.
