What inspired your journey into global education leadership?

My journey into education began with a very simple but deeply meaningful belief, that education has the power to transform lives. In the 1980s, I started with a small nursery in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, driven by a passion for nurturing young minds and creating a positive learning environment for children. What began as a modest initiative slowly evolved into a lifelong mission dedicated to student growth, empowerment, and global education.

Over the years, I had the privilege of working with students from different cultures, backgrounds, and aspirations. Watching students overcome barriers, achieve their dreams, and build successful careers inspired me to continue expanding my role in education leadership. I realized early on that education is not only about academics, it is about confidence building, mentorship, opportunity, and helping students discover their purpose.

My journey eventually led me to work with leading international universities and institutions across the UAE and beyond, where I focused on student mobility, international partnerships, and higher education development. Every stage of this journey reinforced my belief that education is one of the most powerful tools for social and personal transformation.

What continues to inspire me even today is seeing former students succeed globally and return years later to say that guidance, encouragement, or mentorship changed the course of their lives. Those moments are truly priceless.

How has the education industry changed over the past 35 years?

The education industry has undergone extraordinary transformation over the last three and a half decades. When I first entered the field, education was largely traditional, classroom focused, and limited in terms of international accessibility. Students relied heavily on textbooks, face to face instruction, and conventional career pathways.

Today, education has become global, technology powered, and highly dynamic. Students now have access to international universities, online learning platforms, hybrid education models, artificial intelligence powered tools, and global career opportunities that were unimaginable years ago. The world has become more connected, and education has evolved to meet the demands of a rapidly changing global economy.

One of the most significant changes I have witnessed is the shift from rote learning to skill based and experiential learning. Universities and employers today value critical thinking, creativity, adaptability, communication, and emotional intelligence just as much as academic performance.

Another important transformation has been the growing emphasis on student wellbeing and mental health. Educational institutions are now recognizing that academic success must go hand in hand with emotional support, mentorship, and holistic development.

At the same time, the role of educators has also evolved. Teachers and education leaders are no longer just providers of information, they are mentors, facilitators, innovators, and guides helping students navigate an increasingly complex world.

While technology has changed the delivery of education, the human aspect of learning, empathy, mentorship, and inspiration, remains timeless and irreplaceable.

What motivated you to launch MS Education Consultants?

After spending decades in international education leadership roles, I realized there was a growing need for personalized guidance and mentorship for students and families navigating higher education choices. Many students felt overwhelmed by the number of universities, programs, countries, and career pathways available to them.

I founded MS Education Consultants with the vision of creating a student centered consultancy that goes beyond admissions. I wanted to build a platform that genuinely supports students in discovering their strengths, aspirations, and long term goals.

For me, this venture was never simply about placing students into universities. It was about mentoring young people, helping them make informed decisions, identifying scholarship opportunities, and guiding them toward fulfilling careers and meaningful futures.

Another strong motivation was my desire to make international education more accessible and transparent for students and parents. Families often need trusted guidance during this important phase of life, and I wanted to offer support based not only on professional expertise but also on empathy and genuine care.

Today, what brings me the greatest satisfaction is seeing students gain confidence in themselves, pursue their dreams globally, and grow into successful professionals and responsible global citizens.

What qualities make students successful in today’s world?

In today’s rapidly evolving world, success is no longer defined solely by academic excellence. While strong educational foundations remain important, students must also develop adaptability, resilience, creativity, emotional intelligence, and a willingness to continuously learn and grow.

The world is changing faster than ever before due to technology, globalization, and innovation. Students who succeed are those who remain curious, open-minded, and flexible in the face of change. The ability to communicate effectively, collaborate with people from different cultures, and think critically has become extremely valuable.

I also believe self-confidence and perseverance are essential qualities. Every student will face challenges, setbacks, and moments of uncertainty. What truly matters is the ability to rise again, learn from experiences, and continue moving forward with determination.

Equally important is having a sense of purpose and integrity. Success should not only be measured by professional achievements, but also by the impact we create, the values we uphold, and the way we contribute positively to society.

Students today must understand that learning does not stop after graduation. Lifelong learning is the key to staying relevant and successful in an ever-changing world.

What challenges did you face as a woman entrepreneur in education?

Like many women entrepreneurs, balancing professional responsibilities with personal commitments was one of the early challenges I faced. Building a career in leadership while managing family responsibilities required discipline, resilience, and sacrifice.

When I began my journey, leadership positions in many sectors, including education, were still largely male-dominated. Women often had to work harder to prove their capabilities and earn recognition. There were moments when I had to overcome doubts, stereotypes, and limitations placed on women in leadership roles.

However, these challenges also strengthened me. I learned the importance of perseverance, self-belief, and remaining focused on one’s vision despite obstacles. I have always believed that challenges should never discourage us, they should motivate us to grow stronger and wiser.

Another challenge was navigating the rapidly changing education landscape while ensuring students continued to receive quality guidance and support. Adapting to evolving technologies, international education trends, and student expectations requires constant learning and innovation.

But throughout this journey, the support of my family, mentors, colleagues, and students has been invaluable. Every challenge became an opportunity for growth, and every experience taught me important lessons in leadership, empathy, and resilience.

Which achievement or award means the most to you personally?

While I deeply appreciate every recognition and award I have received throughout my career, the achievements that mean the most to me are the lives I have been able to impact through education and mentorship.

Seeing students succeed, build meaningful careers, gain scholarships, and achieve their dreams gives me immense personal satisfaction. Some of the most emotional moments for me are when former students reconnect years later to share their accomplishments and tell me that guidance or encouragement made a difference in their journey.

Being recognized for contributions to education and women’s empowerment is certainly an honour, but I believe true success lies in the positive impact we leave behind.

One recognition that holds special meaning for me is having my name inscribed on the Al Jalila Foundation Wall in recognition of mentorship and contribution to entrepreneurship and education. It was a deeply humbling moment because it represented not only professional achievement but also the values of service, mentorship, and community impact that I strongly believe in.

I also take immense pride in supporting refugee students and helping deserving young people access educational opportunities that can transform their futures. Those experiences remain very close to my heart.

Why is mentorship important for students today?

Mentorship has become more important than ever because students today are growing up in a world filled with opportunities, competition, information overload, and uncertainty. Many students struggle with making the right academic and career decisions because they often feel overwhelmed by choices and expectations.

A mentor provides more than guidance, they provide encouragement, perspective, confidence, and support. Sometimes students simply need someone who believes in them and helps them recognize their own potential.

Throughout my career, mentorship has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my work. I have seen how proper guidance can completely change a student’s direction, confidence, and future. Mentors help students avoid unnecessary mistakes, make informed decisions, and navigate challenges more effectively.

Mentorship also plays a crucial role in emotional well-being. Students today face significant pressure academically and socially, and having someone they can trust and learn from can make a tremendous difference.

I strongly encourage students to seek mentors who inspire them, challenge them positively, and genuinely care about their growth. At the same time, I encourage successful professionals to mentor the next generation because sharing knowledge and experience is one of the most meaningful ways to create lasting impact.

What advice would you give to students planning to study abroad?

Studying abroad is not only an academic journey, it is a life-changing personal experience that helps students grow independently, culturally, emotionally, and professionally.

My first advice to students is to choose a program and university that aligns with their interests, strengths, and long-term goals rather than simply following trends or external pressure. Every student’s journey is unique, and decisions should be made thoughtfully and carefully.

Students should also research thoroughly about the country, university culture, career opportunities, and support systems available. Preparation is extremely important before taking such a significant step.

Equally important is developing adaptability and an open-minded approach. Living in a new country comes with challenges, including homesickness, cultural differences, and adjusting to unfamiliar environments. However, these experiences also build resilience, confidence, and independence.

I always advise students to embrace diversity, build meaningful connections, and make the most of international exposure. Education abroad is not only about obtaining a degree, it is about learning from different cultures, perspectives, and experiences.

Most importantly, students should believe in themselves. Studying abroad may feel intimidating initially, but it can become one of the most transformative and rewarding experiences of their lives.

How do you see AI shaping the future of education?

Artificial intelligence is undoubtedly transforming the future of education in remarkable ways. AI has the potential to make learning more personalized, accessible, efficient, and interactive for students worldwide.

Today, students can access AI-powered learning tools, adaptive learning systems, virtual tutoring, and personalized educational support that caters to individual learning styles and pace. This can significantly enhance learning experiences and help bridge educational gaps.

AI is also helping educators streamline administrative work, analyze student performance more effectively, and create more engaging teaching methods. Technology can certainly improve accessibility and innovation within education.

However, while AI is a powerful tool, I strongly believe it can never replace the human element of education. Empathy, mentorship, emotional intelligence, creativity, ethical guidance, and human connection remain essential parts of the learning process.

The future of education will not be about humans versus technology, it will be about how educators and institutions responsibly integrate technology while preserving the human values that make education meaningful.

Students must also learn how to use AI ethically and intelligently. In the future, success will belong to individuals who combine technological skills with creativity, emotional intelligence, critical thinking, and strong human values.

Additional Message to Readers

Education is one of the greatest gifts we can offer future generations. It has the power to create opportunities, break barriers, transform communities, and inspire positive change across the world.

I would like to encourage students, parents, educators, and professionals to continue believing in the importance of lifelong learning, mentorship, kindness, and resilience. Success is not only about reaching personal goals, it is about uplifting others and creating meaningful impact along the way.

To young people, especially, I would say never underestimate your potential. Dream boldly, remain curious, work with integrity, and never stop learning. Every challenge you face can become an opportunity for growth if you approach it with courage and determination.

And finally, always remember that true leadership is not about titles or recognition, it is about inspiring others, empowering communities, and leaving behind a legacy of positive change.
