Name: Mr. Akhil Gupta
Company, and Job Title: Founder of “Bigreams.com”
Brief us about your professional journey and Role
I come from a family business. My father has a fabric business. I also worked in it for some time, but it is a B2B business, so it is very difficult to create brand value there because it is all a price-sensitive business. I wanted to do some B2C business. First, I completed my MBA in 2018. After that, I did some online courses in digital marketing created my e-commerce website, and started with the fabrics we had. But then Covid came in 2020 and the business was off for almost 1 year. I was alone and was learning a lot at that time. Then in 2021, I started again and now we sell our products in almost all marketplaces along with our website. Along with this, we are entering into custom tailoring. This journey is very interesting. We are engaged in doing something big.
Bigreams is a very interesting story of this name. Actually, in 2019, I received an email regarding export order supply. This email was from an African country. It had an export order of very high value. So, to fulfill that, I had to start a company. When I was searching for a name, I needed one that would always motivate me. So, I combined the words big + dreams and formed Bigreams. And after setting up the company, I found out that the email was fake. As for everyone, mostly fake emails come from African countries. I had also received it, but I had started the company, the only difference that happened with me was this.
Who has influenced you the most in life and why?
My father is the biggest influence on my life. He also started a very small business and he was alone at that time there was no technology or the internet, so he inspired me. Secondly, I am an animal lover, so I want to do something good for animals. Even today, I spend some percentage of my profit in feeding animals and helping them.
What are the biggest challenges you have faced in your life?
Till now I have not faced any such big challenge but challenges keep coming daily and we get to learn a lot from those challenges.
What lessons have you learned from your professional career?
All days are not the same and daily something new.
How can your products help to resolve the pain points of your customers?
We help customers make comfortable and customized clothing. Many professionals and fashion enthusiasts want to wear their customized dresses and if they go to create it then first, they have to source the fabric, then the material, and then stitching and we do all this. There is a complete solution for them and the plus-size people also face the same problem, they get very few options of their size in the market. We currently work in all three categories – Shirts, Pants & Men’s Suits. Apart from this, we have 350 plus SKU options in fabric to give them the choice.
Do you have any advice for those who want to be an entrepreneur/chief officer?
My advice is to do what you want to do and make your aspirations big and remember big things take time.
