About your professional journey
Having initiated my professional journey spanning diverse sectors such as administration, HR, sales, and marketing across various companies, I eventually ventured into the startup realm. Opting for a preschool with minimal financial backing seemed like a secure choice. Over my entrepreneurial tenure of seven years, I recognized a prevalent lack of understanding among startups regarding compliance issues. Drawing from my decade-plus experience as an employee, I also acknowledged the pivotal role of a secure working environment in fostering employee effectiveness.
This realization led me to embark on a new path as a Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) consultant, where I work with startups to raise awareness and sensitize employees about creating a safe workplace. As my network and client base expanded, it became evident that startups required assistance not only in compliance but also in managing soft services. Recognizing the need for comprehensive support in areas such as facility management, I along with a team of 5 others introduced a new project – Integrated Facility Services (IFS). The aim is to alleviate administrative burdens for startup owners, allowing them to concentrate on their core projects without being encumbered by facility management issues.
How did you come to your current role/position?
Through numerous setbacks and recoveries, engaging in a continuous cycle of learning, unlearning, and relearning, I have consistently sought opportunities at every setback. I’ve dedicated myself to skill enhancement through certifications and workshops, working diligently. The significant factors contributing to my journey include the unwavering support of my loved ones, the blessings of God, and guidance from my elders. It is through this persistent effort and a combination of factors that I have successfully reached my current position.
Who has influenced you the most in life and why?
Throughout my life’s journey, I’ve gleaned lessons from diverse individuals I’ve encountered. Some imparted wisdom with kindness, while others did so through tough experiences. Nevertheless, all these people have played a significant role in shaping my entrepreneurial path. I learned from some the importance of adopting a never-give-up attitude, from others the art of prioritizing what truly matters, and a few taught me the skill of confidently saying NO without harboring regrets
What are the biggest challenges you have faced in your life and how did you overcome them?
Throughout my life, I’ve encountered challenges at different stages, including limited resources, the absence of a prestigious university background, financial constraints, self-doubt, and instances of betrayal. There were nights when I went to sleep feeling overwhelmed, thinking I couldn’t continue, but each morning brought new ideas and renewed strength. My guiding principle is “Tomorrow is another day!” – a belief that whatever distress one faces today will likely be overcome tomorrow. I’ve found solace in the idea that each new day brings a fresh start. God has consistently shown me kindness, providing a ray of hope every time I face a roadblock.
What lessons you have learned from your professional career?
As an entrepreneur, the most significant lesson I’ve learned is that the key to success lies within oneself. While individual responsibility is crucial for failures, success is often a collective effort, involving numerous people without whom it wouldn’t have been possible. In the realm of business, attitude, honesty, and integrity play pivotal roles in determining outcomes.
What do you see as the biggest challenge for brands in the digital space?
In the digital space, one of the most significant challenges for brands is navigating the rapidly evolving landscape of technology and consumer behavior. Keeping pace with technological advancements, understanding shifting digital trends, and effectively engaging with an increasingly digital-savvy audience pose ongoing challenges. Brands need to stay agile, adapt to emerging platforms, and craft strategies that resonate authentically with their target audience amidst the dynamic and competitive digital environment. Additionally, ensuring data privacy and security while leveraging digital tools is a growing concern for brands in today’s digital landscape.
