Name: Mr. Rohiit Thakur
Job title and company: Director of “Khanevala”
Linkedin Profile: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rohiit-thakur-70b5231a1/
I started my career with different jobs. My first job was in the field of education marketing, after that, I also worked in the fields of media, real estate, insurance, etc. During the year 2016-2018, I also started a small startup in Solan town, Himachal by the name of “Chai on Call” In this concept we delivered 20 types of flavored tea within 15 minutes. After seeing many failures and struggles from 2015 to 2022, I delivered the first order of Khanevala on 20 March 2022 from my bike. On extremely hot summer days (Since we are from Shimla, the heat of Zirakpur, Chandigarh was like hell for us.) my wife used to cook food without onion and garlic in desi ghee, and I used to deliver. This sequence continued till May 2022. After that, we made a strategy to enter corporate service and today, we are serving around 500 to 800 people daily with a team of 13 people. Last year our turnover was around Rs 70 lakhs. Punjab gave us a lot as a Karmbhoomi.
Who do you want to give credit to someone who has helped you in your journey?
My wife witnessed and supported every hardship and joy in my journey. My father who always helped me out of financial issues and my mother who taught me to always be positive.
Influential person in your life
Swami Ramdev, Yogi Adityanath, Narendra Modi, and Gautam Adani are some of the names that influence me because I feel that like me, these people also belong to middle-class or lower-middle-class family backgrounds, if these personalities can reach the top without privilege, resources then I can definitely reach there too.
Your Challenges
Because I come from a working family, whatever I have learned and am learning, I am learning through stumbles. Due to my high-risk appetite, I usually do new experiments, and the maximum time I burn the hard-earned earned money, because of this attitude I had to face a financial crunch most of the time in business and financial crunch was my biggest challenge. I have overcome this challenge by taking a calculated risk, cost-cutting, and stopping cash leakage.
What knowledge have you acquired throughout your career?
I believe that in business, either the most expensive or the cheapest product is successful because if the product is very expensive then its quality will be excellent and it will be popular in the Top class if it is very cheap then it will be popular in the lower or middle class. The intermediate product either runs slowly or expires in a short period of time
What are your weaknesses and biggest strengths?
Accepting the promises made by people as true is my weakness and my biggest strength is that I am a solo warrior. I am not afraid of solo fighting.
How can your product or solution help solve your customers’ challenges?
I believe that in business, either the most expensive or the cheapest product is successful. We come in the category of low price because we have balanced the quality and price so that the customer can get the low price and quality under one roof. We started getting space and they started trusting us.
What are your favorite pastimes?
Dinner with wife, looking for new dishes and trying them, solo trip.
Can you provide any advice for aspiring business founders or top executives?
If you cannot sweep in your workplace then you should give up your desire to become a boss.
Are you a theist or an atheist?
I am a staunch theist and believe in karma and invisible power.
